The Changing Face of Beaver County

No community stands still forever. Even Beaver County has changed in so many ways over the last several years. Those changes in population, average resident education level and income, age range, industries and technologies, among other factors, have created an entirely different community from 20, and even five, years ago.

The theme of this year’s annual progress edition is “The Changing Face of Beaver County” and looks at how socioeconomic shifts over the years have transformed and are continuing to change what it means to live in the county. Changes range from where our residents work to where they choose to make their homes to how they live their daily lives. It is a fascinating look at how things have changed from one generation to the next, sometimes so subtly we don’t even notice it until it is pointed out.

Times leaders are so excited about this concept, and what we discovered through our research, that we knew it warranted more than we could deliver in the Progress edition. And so, shortly we will be launching an ongoing series that will run through the year expanding on what different aspects of Beaver County life have changed over the years. Also called “The Changing Face of Beaver County,” the series will shine a light on hidden facts about the county and its people, as well as provide a more accurate picture of the socioeconomic situation here.

We hope this series will spark conversations about the community, and maybe some arguments about how we can grow and improve. Changes will occur no matter what we do, but maybe this series can give us some ideas about how to shape those changes. We hope you will join us on this journey.
